Virtual Colonography
Colon cancer is a very common and curable disease when identified and treated
early. Because of this, the American College of Gastroenterology recommends
routine screenings in women and men 50 years of age and older.
Virtual
colonography with 64-slice CT is an alternative to conventional
colonoscopy without the risks of perforation and anesthesia. The accuracy of virtual colonography
was reported to be equivalent to conventional colonscopy in a recent study in
the New England Journal of Medicine. |
